Naughty Professor Malayalam Movie Review
Well, most of the viewers would perhaps expect some crazy or even naughty fun when they go for a comedy flick. But what if most of those jokes turn out to be jaded, boring or even offensive, like in director Harinarayanan’s Naughty Professor?
Like how enjoyable will it be for you to watch the sexual escapades of a 60 year old man played by veteran actor Innocent? Or the desperation of an ageing professor to turn macho? There is no way you can mince words here, this is just irresponsible filmmaking, trying to cash in on the new found acceptance for Baburaj as a comedian, but it all goes in vain.
Prof. K T Vishwambharan (Baburaj) is the department head in a college but behaves more like a silly man obsessed only about his looks and health. He is a bit too friendly with his students and the college authorities hate him for this. His wife Karthika (Lakshmi Gopalaswamy) is an ex-south Indian super heroine, who had quit acting after her marriage.
Vishwambharan is friendly with Francis Mulavarikkal (Innocent), who is nearing sixty but has nothing but sex in his mind. Things take an abrupt turn when DYSP Chacko (Tini Tom) and his wife Tessa (Lena) start living in their neighbourhood.
In an effort to come up with some laughs, director Harinarayanan and scenarist Baburaj go for every possible gags that we usually come across in films of this genre. The scenes are badly written, the dialogues are irritating and the performances are less than ordinary. The narrative loses its direction at several junctures but in all probability you would lose interest in the proceedings pretty early as this absurd drama start unfolding.
Baburaj sleepwalks through this role, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy and Tini Tom have nothing much to do, Lena is there to display her shape in tight fitting exercise outfits and Innocent tries to display his old tricks without much success.
It is evident that the makers of Naughty Professor are not much bothered about the audience. Some of those mimicry shows in TV could provide you some laughs but no such luck with this one. Now, the choice is entirely yours!
